Petri Hännikäinen - Production Developer
Petri Hännikäinen has built a long and diverse career at Oilon, spanning 25 years and multiple roles across the company. He first joined Oilon as a summer worker in production at the Lahti factory and later secured a permanent position as an Electrician.
After a few years, Petri was looking for new challenges and transferred to Oilon’s R&D department. There, under the guidance of senior developers, he learned the ins and outs of burner technology, testing and developing burners as part of his role. After seven years in R&D, Petri transitioned to the customer service department, where he took primary responsibility for customer training. In addition to training, he handled burner installation and maintenance assignments both on land and at sea, mainly across Europe. His first commissioning project took place in Serbia.
Petri later returned to R&D department for several years before moving into his current role as Production Developer in Lahti’s burner production. “My own initiative has enabled my career growth and transitions into different roles. I’ve always wanted variety in my work and have boldly approached different departments about jobs that interest me. I enjoy challenging myself in new areas – that’s when you learn something new,” Petri explains.
In his current role, Petri supports production at the Lahti factory in various ways. “The position allows me to be involved in many things and to leverage the expertise and experience I’ve gained over decades. Having a broad background is a big advantage – you know who to contact for different issues. My days typically involve creating production work instructions, solving problems, supporting documentation, and working on development tasks,” he says.
For Petri, the people at Oilon make all the difference: “I enjoy working with everyone here. If these people weren’t around, I probably wouldn’t have stayed in the same company for so long. Even when challenges arise, it helps to have great colleagues to share them with. It’s easy to work with everyone – the employees make Oilon one degree better!” Petri shares.
