Michele Danelon - Digital Business Manager
Michele Danelon works as Digital Business Manager at Oilon. His journey with the company began 12 years ago when he was looking for a seminar project as part of his design studies. Oilon offered a concrete project for his thesis, and after completing it, Michele continued at Oilon as an Industrial Designer.
“The role of an industrial designer involves much more than shaping a product. You need to broaden your understanding so that design thinking can be applied beyond product design to other areas as well,” Michele explains.
After his initial role, Michele expanded his expertise within Oilon’s R&D department, later taking on the position of Lead Designer. This brought customer experience and digital services into his work as IoT and digital solutions development began. “Over the past 12 years, I’ve done many different things, but always stayed connected to design, even as my responsibilities evolved. Oilon has always given me the opportunity to broaden my role, and I’m grateful for that,” Michele says.
Michele has consistently been proactive in sharing ideas and suggesting improvements. “I’ve boldly put forward ideas and offered solutions where development was needed. Oilon has embraced those suggestions, and together we’ve made them happen. There’s often a big team behind the scenes – no one does anything alone,” he notes.
Today, Michele is responsible for developing OilonONE and increasing its adoption across business units. OilonONE is a digital service platform that gives customers global access to Oilon’s digital services, extending customer support beyond traditional service operations. Michele describes his role as similar to being a product owner, focusing on connecting teams, gathering ideas, clarifying visions, and turning them into reality. His days are filled with meetings, workshops, and discussions with stakeholders.
For Michele, the atmosphere is key in making workdays one degree better: “Over the years, I’ve had the chance to meet people across different departments. The atmosphere is extremely important to me and a big reason why I enjoy my work. It’s a huge advantage that it’s easy to get along with everyone across Oilon. When I started 12 years ago, I was still learning Finnish, and everyone at Oilon were very supportive. The official work language is English, but back then many things were still in Finnish, and no one ever focused on my mistakes. One thing I’m especially proud of is Oilon’s openness and ability to understand different backgrounds. I’ve always felt valued and accepted,” Michele shares.
